“ Best sushi spot in town with a great happy hour menu. We usually sit at the bar and marvel at the art that the chefs here create. The servers and chefs offer great service and are extremely friendly, even offering suggestions if you’re not sure of what you want to order. The fish is unbelievably fresh and all the dishes we had were amazing. The Japanese Style Steamed Cheese Cake is the best cheese cake I’ve ever had. It’s soft and spongy which is the last thing you’d expect but trust me, it’s amazing. Put your faith in the chef and order the Omakase and chase it down with a local wine from Selin Cellars. ”

“ Got the chef's omakase here and sat at the bar - highly recommend! Even if you go a la carte, you can't go wrong, everything is very good and the service is A. Definitely the quickest omakase meal I've ever had (in a good way). Hamachi is always my favorite and Asahi did not disappoint with their version. The waygu nigiri is out of this world good. There were a lot of things on the menu that I'm not familiar with, even as a pretty regular sushi eater, but I was pleasantly surprised with them all. I'm not into eel and uni, and while Asahi didn't change my mind, their eel and uni are definitely the best (most tolerable for me) I've had. The house sake pours are fun (you basically get two for one with the overflow pour) and is very very good. I'm just visiting, but I would absolutely come back to Asahi if I'm in the area again! ”

“ I'm a Japanese and Asahi is one of my very few favorite authentic Sushi restaurants in Sonoma county. Go there from Thursday to Saturday to truly experience Asahi when Nobu-san is in, and DO the counter if possible. We've been there just a handful times but it's always been wonderful. A few months ago we had the "light" omakase and it was so worth it. All the appetizers were delicately crafted and tasty, and Nobu-san suggested & selected fishes for nigiri after asking us our preferences. That night he picked three kinds of salmons (including ocean trout) like a salmon sampler, each one garnished differently--that was fun. AND good. I like the balance of the fish slices & the amount of rice with his nigiri, you get a satisfying mouthful without choking. I'm not a fan when nigiri size is too big, you get too busy chewing and swallowing rather than tasting & enjoying the food. I don't know if it was always the case but menu doesn't list fishes for nigiri, as he doesn't know which fish strikes his fancy that day at the market. So definitely talk to Nobu-san over the counter and tell him what you like, he'd be happy to select fishes for you. At our recent visit it was Sunday so sadly NO Nobu-san, but the rolls his staff makes are solid, and their Agedashi Tofu was quite excellent, nice bite-size tofu with eggplant on top, soaking in tasty broth. Looking forward to going back! ”
